Acting Regent of North Aceh Continues to Help Develop the Local Salt Industry
Acting Regent of North Aceh Azwardi, AP, MSi, said that the people's salt industry needs to continue to be developed to meet local salt needs, as well as support the national salt supply.
This was said by Azwardi on the sidelines of the first harvest of the people's salt industry in Bantayan Village, Seunuddon District, Saturday afternoon, September 17, 2022.
Azwardi directly inspected the salt industry managed by Udin Sira's group and carried out the first harvest in the salt pond.
Azwardi was also accompanied by the Head of the North Aceh Regency Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service, Syarifuddin, ST, the Head of the Capture Fisheries Division, Rawan Ruswawija, SST, the Head of the Seunuddon Muslim Sub-district, SSos, as well as the fishery instructors of the North Aceh Regency. The smallholder salt industry managed by Udin Sira's group is produced using a tunnel system, a production tool provided by the government.
Azwardi said the tunnel salt harvested at that location was of very good quality. This has been studied and investigated by extension workers, both from officers from the Aceh Province and from the North Aceh Marine and Fisheries Service. "This will be an added value for this regional salt group, besides being able to be consumed locally, it can also be supplied outside the region," said Azwardi.
The people's salt business group Udin Sira Gampong Bantayan can get a harvest of about 4.5 tons of salt each time it is produced. Of the 10 tunnels managed by the Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Aceh Province, Udin Sira's salt group has only harvested five tunnels measuring 4 x 10 square meters. "For each salt table (tunnel) a minimum of 800 kilograms of salt is produced," said T Miftahuddin, Group Leader.
To Azwardi, he explained that the group would be able to produce around 20 tons of salt in October.
Head of the North Aceh Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service Syarifuddin, ST, hopes that the construction of the people's salt industry tunnel in North Aceh will continue to grow, both those built by the Central Government through the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Aceh Provincial Marine and Fisheries Service, as well as by the Aceh Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service. North.
It was stated that in August 2022 the Aceh DKP Service had handed over assistance for the construction of the salt tunnel to the Udin Sira Gampong Bantayan group, Seunuddon District, and this time it was the first harvest from the tunnel.
Acting Regent Azwardi and the North Aceh Marine and Fisheries Service appreciated the performance of Udin Sira's group. It only took one month after the handover of the salt tunnel, Udin Sira's group was able to produce and harvest the first crop. "With a large enough marine potential, we can produce salt to meet the salt demand in Aceh," said Azwardi.

Furthermore, Azwardi hopes that the salt farmer groups in Aceh who want to develop this business will be more serious. In addition to reducing imports from outside, the people's salt industry like this can also improve the welfare of the people around the coast of Aceh. [Adv]
